Lagoon Dewatering

Centrifuge Dewatering

Epsom Environmental Services can provide dewatering services via our subcontractor. The dewatering plant is a 60 cubic metre per hour Humboldt Decanter S4-1 solid bowl centrifuge that is mounted and operated on a quick release B-double trailer combination operational and another under construction. The centrifuge has a typical working solids range from 2% to 6% and a sludge throughput of between 40 and 60 m3 per hour.

All ancillary equipment needed for the operation of the centrifuge (including polyelectrolyte makeup and dosing system, pontoon with mixer and sludge feed pump, macerator pump, centrate pump, hydraulic power pack, sludge discharge conveyor, diesel generator, electrical controls and instrumentation, sludge feed lines, centrate return lines, and electrical cables) are carried on the trailer combination. The centrifuge, hydraulic pack, electrical cabinet, cake conveyor belt, and macerator pump can be lifted from the trailer using a crane and be placed on a separate frame for lagoons with extremely difficult access.

Also used is a separate 30 kVA generator to run the “mixer/sludge supply” pontoon where the lagoon is extremely large or the lagoon is a long distance from the location of the centrifuge. This second generator allows the mixer to be left running at night (where noise considerations allow this to occur) without running the main generator which prevents settling of the lagoon over night and promotes a homogenous sludge feed.
A second 30 kVA generator may be used to supply electricity for the pontoons to allow mix only pontoon to be moved easily around the lagoon to aid with the thorough mixing of the lagoon.
